Your River Nile cruise officially commences as you check into your luxury cabin and prepare for an immersion into southern Egypt's history. Aswan has served as the gateway to the south for thousands of years and is famous for its unique granite landscapes.
- Afternoon Program: Relax and enjoy the view of the botanical gardens and the dramatic rock formations of the First Cataract! Lunch is served on board the Soleil Nile Cruise, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and fine dining. This is the ideal time to enjoy the ship's sun deck as the golden Egyptian sun reflects off the water's surface before your land exploration begins.
- Evening Program: It is time for Aswan exploration, beginning with a panoramic view of the High Dam, a 20th-century feat that created Lake Nasser. You will then visit the Unfinished Obelisk, which illustrates the massive scale of pharaonic stone-cutting. Finally, visit the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, which was moved stone by stone to Agilkia Island. Return to your River Nile cruise for dinner before docking overnight in Aswan.
Sailing to the Dual Deities of Kom Ombo and Edfu
- Morning Program: A good day begins with a good breakfast as the ship begins its graceful sail toward Kom Ombo. This part of your River Nile cruise showcases the vibrant agricultural life along the riverbanks, where traditional methods are still in use. Your River Nile cruise provides a tranquil platform to watch the timeless Egyptian landscape pass by as you enjoy your morning coffee on deck.
- Afternoon Program: The immersion resumes with a visit to Kom Ombo, a unique double temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god. It is famous for its ancient reliefs that depict early surgical instruments and a Nilometer used to measure the river's height. Follow this with a sail to Edfu while enjoying a refined lunch with a view on your River Nile cruise.
- Evening Program: Admiring what’s considered the most complete and best-preserved ancient Egyptian temple, the Horus Temple in Edfu, is next on the agenda. Built during the Ptolemaic period, its massive pylons and courtyard are still decorated with towering reliefs. Enjoy dinner on your River Nile cruise before docking overnight in the quiet river countryside, resting in the elegant comfort of your suite.
Crossing the Esna Lock to the Grandeur of Luxor
- Morning Program: Commence the journey with breakfast before sailing to the Esna Lock! Watching your River Nile cruise navigate the water levels of the lock is a fascinating technical experience that marks your arrival into the Luxor region. This transition brings you into the heart of ancient Thebes, the most powerful capital of the New Kingdom and a core destination of your voyage.
- Afternoon Program: Relax and enjoy the view from the deck of your River Nile cruise as we approach the legendary city of Luxor.
